Recipe Extravaganza Week 2

Greek Cookies

These are a popular Christmas cookie in my family. My great-uncle was greek so this was their recipe.

1 c. butter
2 T. baking powder
1 t. almond flavor
1/2 c. evaporated milk
6-8 c. flour
1 1/2 c. sugar
6 eggs
1/2 t. salt

Combine ingredients. Knead adding flour to make dough smooth but not stiff. Pinch off dough and make shapes i.e., twists, knots, pretzels. Place on greased cookie sheet. Brush with mixture of 1 egg + 1 T. water. Sprinkle with sesame seeds or candy sprinkles. Bake at 350 for 12-15 minutes.
